Closure Announcement Print E-mail

With a lot of sadness and regret, I announce the closure of the Charaka Center starting from 10/1/11. The reasons are many, including financial unsustainability and changes in personal priorities. I have very much enjoyed working with my clients for the past 4 years. I hope to reopen my holistic practice at Charaka when the circumstances are more favorable and when I can devote more time and energy towards the practice. I wholeheartedly thank all my wonderful clients who, through their illness and their enthusiasm to heal themselves, have also enriched my life and taught me a great deal.

Ravi Hirekatur, MD

What to Expect Print E-mail

Before your first appointment

A detailed intake form will be mailed or emailed to you to fill out in advance of your first appointment. You can either bring the completed form to the appointment, or mail it to us in advance.   In order to allow enough time for this to happen, it is recommended that appointments be scheduled at least 2 weeks in advance.

Initial Visit

The first appointment typically lasts between 60-90 minutes. During this time, we will go over the intake form mailed to you in advance of the appointment.  The initial visit will also include a discussion of your medical history, current symptoms or illnesses, any conventional western medical treatments and/or complementary modalities you have undergone or are currently undergoing, as well your diet, lifestyle, spiritual practice (if applicable), and personal interests.   Some initial recommendations will be made at this time.

Follow up visit

Follow-up visits typically last from 30-45 minutes.  During your follow-up visit, we will suggest a treatment program comprised of complementary and alternative therapies/modalities, lifestyle changes, herbal and nutritional supplements, symptomatic relief, and/or conventional western treatments.  The recommended program will be based on your unique constitution and health concerns.  Recommendations will also take into account evidence-based studies on the effectiveness and safety of complementary and alternative modalities for addressing your health specific concerns, and drug-herb-supplement interactions.  At subsequent follow-up visits, we will also discuss how your program is working, and make adjustments as needed.
